About the Artist |
Michelle Soneja was born in
1985 in Jakarta, Indonesia. As a kid, shewould usually spend
her free time drawing and doodling on walls and sketchbooks,
sometimes tracing out cartoons directly from the TV screen.
She never had any formal art training but she did dabble in
a bit of watercolors and oil painting just for kicks, having
exhausted all her color
pencils.
She eventually moved to the Philippines where she took up a
Bachelor's Degree in Media Production. In college, she was a
Vice President and Disc Jockey for the campus radio station
and the editorial cartoonist for the college paper. In spite
of all the other opportunities that life presented her, she
still found herself being drawn to the world of
illustration, digital art and comics.
Michelle now works as a team leader and digital colorist for
an outsourcing art studio which produces storyboards and
animatics for advertising agencies in the U.S. and Europe.
It was in her current company where she acquired the
extensive digital art training that was absent from most of
her life.
Nowadays she draws her artwork using pencils and inks for
the lineart and Photoshop for colors.
She's also a freelancer and has provided art and colors for
various comics as well as several graphic/mascot designs for
a number of
companies.
Other interests and hobbies include photography,
writing, playing
video games, and world domination.
